All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) calls it a mistake but it has the faculty at this premier institution up in arms against a form that has been circulated seeking to know about their religion.

A single-page form has been allegedly distributed among the faculty of Delhi, AIIMS asking senior doctors to reveal their religion.

This is beside enquiring about the age, salary and experience details of the faculty. The Institution maintained that this was circulated for the purpose of creating a database of all senior doctors of AIIMS.

AIIMS director Randeep Guleria said he “wasn’t aware of such a form” the administration cell responsible for issuing and collecting the forms maintained that this inclusion was an inadvertence mistake.

Senior doctors at AIIMS called it “shocking” and “not justified” adding that doctors should not be asked about the religion they are following.
