Several nationals of African countries on Friday protested outside a private school here demanding removal of its principal, after an 11-year-old Nigerian student was allegedly sodomised by a school staff.

“Some members of an African association spoke to the school management on Friday and expressed concern over the sexual assault on the Nigerian student. They demanded action against the school principal,” SHO, Surajpur, Girish Kumar said. The accused, who worked as a book seller in the school was arrested a few days ago, he said.

A complaint was registered in the case after which the accused man was booked under IPC Section 377 for unnatural offence.

“We were to record the statement of the victim before a court under CrPC 164 on Friday but it could not be done. Further investigations are on,” Mr. Kumar added.
