The ABVP on Wednesday lent its support to research scholars from across the country who are demanding a hike in their fellowship and its timely disbursement.

“The research community of India is currently witnessing a condition of distress and dissatisfaction regarding the status of hike in fellowship of researchers. It is a matter of great concern that research scholars of eminent universities and institutes of India are compelled to come on the streets for their demands,” the ABVP said. The ABVP said that it has sent delegations to meet several Union Ministers to apprise them of the issues being faced by research scholars and disbursal of fellowships in accordance with the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.

“ABVP strongly believes that the increase and timely disbursal of fellowships has been long due which has become a matter of concern for research scholars across the country, consequently adversely affecting the research environment of India. We appeal to the Ministries and authorities concerned to decide and implement the research scholars’ demands for fellowship hike,” ABVP national general secretary Ashish Chauhan said.
