AAP opens the purse strings for women security

June 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - New Delhi:

After inflation and corruption, women’s safety has been the main issue all along the elections.

“Women safety is high on our agenda and new initiatives for their safety are and will be taken up,” said Finance Minister Manish Sisodia.

He reiterated that it will be mandatory for all taxis, autos and public transport vehicles to install GPS devices. For this, the government has allocated Rs.160 crore in the plan funds.

Gender sensitisation programme training for drivers and conductors of public transport will continue as before. Two thousand marshals will be deployed on buses so that women feel safe while commuting.

For working women, the government has proposed six working women’s hostels, and 300 crèche facilities in slums and JJ Clusters.
