A Delhi court on Monday deferred the scheduled pronouncement of judgment in the Dhaula Kuan gang-rape case of 2010 to hear allegations by one of the five accused about tampering of evidence by the Delhi Police.
A 30-year-old BPO executive from the Northeast was abducted and gang-raped in Dhaula Kuan. Five accused are on trial for the crime.
Taking the plea on record, Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhatt sought a reply from the investigating agency. The court will hear it on September 24.
Earlier, counsel for accused Usman alleged that blood sample of the victim were planted on his pants to ensure matching of the DNA. But the MLC report said that no external injuries were caused to the victim, his counsel claimed.
The defence lawyer also cited discrepancies in the statements of the investigating officer and the forensic expert over a number of exhibits sent for the investigation.
Public Prosecutor in the case refuted the allegation by the accused. The court had on September 8 reserved the judgement on conclusion of the final argument.
