Serial rapist shows no remorse: Delhi Police

Ravinder Kumar, the alleged serial rapist nabbed by the Delhi Police on Saturday, does not show any remorse whatsoever, does not bat an eyelid while being questioned and looks the sleuths in the eye while speaking, said investigators on Sunday.

He is alleged to be involved in at least 15 cases of rape and murder of minors in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh over the last six years. He was nabbed after police stumbled upon the mutilated body of his latest victim at an under-construction building near her home.

In many cases, accused Ravinder, 24, would continue to sexually assault victims, almost all of them children, even after they were dead.

“If his victims began crying or shouting for help, he would close their mouths to silence them. In some cases, the children would be smothered to death but he would continue to sexually assault them,” said Vikramjit Singh, DCP (Outer).

Poverty compelled him to target children, of both genders, whom he considered easy prey. “He did not have the money to spend on sex workers. So he targeted children who were without adult companion or supervision,” the DCP told The Hindu .

Finally arrested from Begumpur in outer Delhi, Ravinder has been on a ‘revealing spree.’

Randomly recalls incidents He has been randomly recalling incidents of sexual assault and murder. He does not remember the FIRs registered in those cases. He just suddenly recalls places and the time when he committed those crimes and mentions them to the investigators.

He is also being shown photographs of random victims of sexual assault and murder.

“From a bunch of pictures, he identified one as that of a girl raped and murdered by him in Badli,” said Mr. Singh. Ravinder’s description of the incident is said to have matched the records in the case.

Worker’s daughter In another case, he ‘confessed’ to raping and murdering a girl in Kanjhawala in 2012. Police said they had no records of that crime as no one had approached the police then.

A team visited the spot and learnt from the locals that a labourer’s daughter was found dead around that time. The labourers left the area the very next day without informing police, the authorities claimed.

The DCP said a psychological profiling of the accused would be done in the near future to thoroughly analyse his behaviour.

Ravinder has so far claimed to have committed 15 rapes and/or murders. In 11 of those cases he killed the victims he raped, said police. He was involved in six registered cases in Delhi. Of those, the victim did not die in only one case when a young boy survived after his throat was slit.
