In view of the prevailing cold wave, the Delhi Government on Wednesday ordered all schools in the city to remain closed till January 9 (Sunday).

Making the announcement, Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said all unaided recognised schools and public schools coming under the Directorate of Education, all Municipal Corporation of Delhi schools, New Delhi Municipal Council schools and Delhi Cantonment Board schools would be covered by the order.

Mr. Lovely said the decision was taken after he received a large number of requests of parents and various schools demanding that the schools be directed to close down in view of the extreme weather condition.

"An office circular has already been issued by Directorate of Education to this effect,’’ he added.
