December 09, 2009 06:34 pm | Updated 06:34 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

In a bizarre case, a quarrel between two neighbours over parking space resulted in the death of a 57-year-old man in the Capital’s Anand Parbat Industrial Area on Tuesday. The police have arrested the victim’s neighbour and his two sons.

According to the police, Atul and Punit, sons of Bhojraj, were parking their vehicle around 1-30 p.m. when Rajat and Ritesh, sons of Rajkumar, objected to it saying that their vehicle, which was already stationed there, would get damaged as there was not enough space. An altercation ensued between them which escalated into a scuffle, the police said. The boys’ fathers also joined in and in the process Rajkumar sustained injuries allegedly at the hands of Bhojraj and his sons. He collapsed and was rushed to a private nursing home where he could not be revived and was declared dead.

The police received a call about the incident at 1-50 p.m. “It is a free parking zone but has a limited space,” said a police officer.

Based on a complaint, the police have registered a case and arrested Bhojraj and his sons on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Both families run lathe machine units in the area.“The post-mortem report would ascertain the exact cause of the victim’s death,” said the police officer.
