A section of Income Tax officers have threatened to go on an all-India strike on July 15 in protest against the “indifferent attitude” of the Central Board of Direct Taxes towards their longstanding demands.
The Joint Council of Action comprising Delhi Income Tax Gazetted Officers' Association and Income Tax Employees Federation (Group C and D) said despite the assurance given by the CBDT chairman their pending promotions have been delayed by almost 20 months.
Ashok Kanojia, president of the Income Tax Employees' Federation (ITEF), Delhi Circle, said re-imbursement of mobile phone charges of employees and pay anomalies arising out of the Sixth Central Pay Commission were yet to be settled.
Mr. Kanojia said a 12-point charter of demand had been submitted to the CBDT. He also called on the CBDT to accept the recommendations of the Cadre Review Committee to cope with the problem of increasing work load and measures to improve revenue collection.
Mr. Kanojia said the Joint Council will be forced to call an indefinite strike if the CBDT does not respond favourably to the employees' demands.
