Gurgaon Metro trials to begin this month

The Delhi Metro railway has announced that it will start trial runs on its upcoming line to Gurgaon by this month end.

The line is expected to offer relief to thousands of commuters who daily shuttle between Delhi and the suburb.

According to the Delhi Metro rail Corporation officials, the trial runs on the section commencing from Gurgaon will start on January 29. The inauguration of the trial run between HUDA City Centre and Sultanpur metro stations will be carried out in the presence of the Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The first train will be flagged-off from HUDA City Centre station. The trial runs on this section will cover a distance of about 11 kms. It will include HUDA City Centre, IFFCO Chowk, Sikandarpur, MG Road, Guru Dronacharaya, Arjangarh, Ghitorni and Sultanpur stations.

According to DMRC estimates, the Qutub Minar-Gurgaon line is expected to serve 1.8 lakh commuters everyday by 2011.
