: An ex-serviceman was shot dead allegedly by his neighbour in Badshahpur here on Saturday. The accused is on the run.
‘Personal enmity’
Subhash Yadav, 50, was on his way home when the accused, Bijender, allegedly accosted him and shot him at point-blank range. Subhash suffered five gunshot injuries and died on the spot.
The police suspect personal enmity to be the reason behind the murder.
Subhash had taken voluntary retirement from the Army in 1994 and lived in Badshahpur village with his wife and two sons.
Grudge over accident
He owned a plot on Darparipur Road, where he had constructed a house and let it out on rent. He also had a small temple on the plot which he used to visit every day, said the police.
Inspector Arvind Kumar, Station House Officer, Badshahpur, said Bijender had met with an accident over a year ago. He suspected Subhash of having cast a black magic spell on him leading to the accident. Bijender allegedly bore a grudge against Subhash and shot him on Saturday.
A case of murder has been registered at Badshahpur police station and efforts are on to arrest Bijender.
