: Two gangs of alleged snatchers who used high-speed bikes to strike at will and were involved in over a dozen cases were busted in north-west Delhi on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Ash Mohammad, Jakir Hussain, Ravi, Shubham, Chintu and Pawan.

Juveniles held

Two juveniles were allegedly also involved in the incidents reported from areas such as Adarsh Nagar, Rohini, K.N. Katju Marg and Model Town.

Hot chase

The gangs used high-speed bikes such as the FZ Yamaha and the Pulsar 220 cc in committing the crimes, said the police.

“On Thursday, Ash Mohammad and Jakir Hussain snatched the mobile phone of a man in Adarsh Nagar. Constable Sombir, who happened to witness the incident, gave the duo a chase and nabbed them,” said Milind Mahadeo Dumbere, DCP (north west).

The police subsequently arrested Ravi and one of his juvenile associates who later led the police to Shubham, Chintu and Pawan.

Lure of luxury

The DCP said the accused took to crime to support their luxurious lifestyle and used to steal two-wheelers for the purpose of using them for subsequent crimes.
