: With elections to the municipal bodies around the corner, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) trade wing has begun approaching traders and small businessmen to know their grievances.

AAP’s trade wing convenor Brijesh Goyal said apart from abolishing MCD licences for factories, house tax in industrial areas should be collected by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) instead of civic bodies.

“In many industrial areas, circle rates are higher than market rates and they should be decreased,” Mr. Goyal said.

The convenor cited the problem of lack of parking facilities in wholesale markets and alleged that it is controlled by the “mafia”. Mr. Goyal added encroachment in markets such as Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Karol Bagh, and Chawri Bazar should also be addressed.
