The Delhi BJP on Monday demanded the dismissal of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Minister Satyendar Jain after reports emerged last week that the Income-Tax Department had sent him a notice over alleged hawala transactions.
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, along with scores of party workers and leaders, staged a protest near the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanding the removal of the PWD and Health Minister from the Cabinet. Some BJP workers and Mr. Tiwari were detained and taken to Maurice Nagar police station.
‘Corruption and nepotism’
Speaking at the protest, Mr. Tiwari said that while Mr. Kejriwal had fought against corruption in the Sheila Dikshit government, his own dispensation was involved in “corruption and nepotism”.
Mr. Tiwari said that the alleged money laundering by Mr. Jain, who holds seven portfolios, had “exposed” him and he should either resign or be dismissed.
Delhi MPs Meenakshi Lekhi and Ramesh Bidhuri, and Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta were present at the protest.
