Three men including an MBA graduate from Singapore was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police for the alleged trafficking of ‘Amphetamine’, a banned drug. Around 275 gm of the drug, which is worth Rs.30 lakh in the international market was recovered from their possession.

The accused, identified as Prabhat (22) and Shubham Nath (20) who are pursuing Mass Communication courses from a reputed institute were arrested by the police on Wednesday.

“We had received a tip-off that the duo would come near Japanese Park, Rohini in a Swift Dzire car to deliver Amphetamine.

A team laid a trap at the spot and nabbed them. 80 gm of the drug was recovered from the possession of Prabhat whereas 103 gm from Shubham”, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

Both of them are from Patna in Bihar.

On sustained interrogation, they revealed that the said drug was supplied to them by one Tapan Mudgal.

Following this, Tapan Mudgal (28), a resident of Pitampura who is an MBA from Singapore was also arrested by the team on the instance of Shubham and 92 gm of Amphetamine was recovered from his possession.

According to police, Amphetamine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brains) by increasing the amount of certain chemicals in the body. This drug is used in rave parties by young men and women as it is cheaper than cocaine.

“The trio has disclosed that they were supplying drugs to party goers since last two months,” said Mr. Yadav.

Further investigation is on to identify other persons involved in the racket.
