A 20-year-old man died after he was stabbed multiple times by a group of teenagers in Rohini’s Vijay Vihar on November 3, the police said on Sunday. The accused chased him before attacking upon him, they said.

Deceased Ravi, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, lived in a rented room in Vijay Vihar. He was employed as a waiter with a catering company.

On November 3, when he was returning home after work, he was attacked by the group of the accused over some “petty issue”. He was chased and stabbed in public.

An eyewitness said that Ravi, who was lying in a pool of blood, kept shouting for help but no one came forward. He fell unconscious after being stabbed multiple times in the chest and stomach, following which the attackers left the spot.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said that the PCR received a call about a man who was stabbed in public. A police ream rushed to the spot. The injured was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. “We have informed his family. The body has been shifted to mortuary. A case of murder has been registered at Vijay Vihar police station,” said Mr. Gupta.

Motive unclear

The police said they are scanning the CCTV footage of the area and trying to identify the attackers. The reason behind the attack is not known yet.

The case is under investigation. Several suspects have been rounded up for questioning, the police also said.
