2 injured in scuffle at Jamia, two detained

Two students sustained minor injuries after a quarrel broke out between two groups at a mosque inside Jamia Millia Islamia University on Monday evening, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said that the police control room received a call around 5 p.m. regarding the scuffle.

“Enquiry revealed that a group of students were surrounded by a few persons at SRK Masjid inside Gate no. 8. A fight broke out between the two groups over an old issue. Two persons sustained minor injuries in the incident,” Mr. Biswal said.

The police further said that an FIR under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code is being registered.
