17-yr-old boy shoots self in Ghaziabad

A 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in Ghaziabad’s Vijay Nagar on Thursday.

The police recovered a countrymade pistol and a mobile phone from his room, however, no suicide note was found. The incident took place in Maharana Vihar colony in Vijay Nagar where Rohit was found dead in his terrace room, a senior police officer said.

The Class X student’s family said that on Wednesday night, he had dinner and went to his room.

On Thursday morning, when he did not come down till late, his mother went upstairs and saw him lying dead with a bullet wound on his head.

Following this, they called the police. Vijay Nagar police station incharge Rameshwar Singh said a team was immediately sent to the spot.

“The body has been sent for post-mortem. We have also recovered a countrymade pistol from the room and further investigations are on,” Mr. Singh said, adding that the cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
