Chennai-based omni bus operator Parveen Travels has launched an exclusive bus service for women from Coimbatore to Chennai.
Representatives of the company said here on Friday that they decided to start the service following the success of Madurai to Chennai service launched last year.
They said that the bus has special security features like GPS tracking and surveillance camera.
“A list of numbers are given to the passengers to contact in case of emergency. Boys till age of 12 years are allowed to travel in the bus. The bus has facilities prioritising the sanitary needs like diaper for kids and sanitary napkins for women during the journey”, said Priya Gunasekaran, marketing head of Parveen Travels. “As the service is at night, there will be two drivers so that one person does not drive more than three hours. We are open to appointing women drivers and on board assistants”, she added.
The service will be operated only on Fridays and Sundays in Coimbatore. The speed limit of the bus is set at 60kmph.
Apart from women only bus service, the company also launched tourist buses in Coimbatore.
