Vigilance Cell (Judicial) in Coimbatore

A police officer of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ADSP) and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) have been appointed in the newly created Vigilance Cell (Judicial) of Madras High Court in Coimbatore.

The Vigilance Cell based in Coimbatore will be in charge of monitoring allegations of corruption against judges, magistrates and court staffs in eight districts in the western region.

ADSP R. Mutharasu has been appointed as the nodal officer of Coimbatore unit of the Vigilance Cell. Mr. Mutharasu is currently working as ADSP (Headquarters) with the Coimbatore (District) Police. He will be in charge of Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Namakal, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts. Mr. Mutharasu, who is currently on duty at cyclone-hit areas, said that he would assume office at the earliest.

R. Jeral Alexander, who is working as Assistant Commissioner of Police with the modern control room in Madurai city, is the DSP (detachment) appointed for Coimbatore. Similarly, seven DSPs will be appointed in the remaining districts in the western region.

The Home Department has issued orders regarding the appointment of the officers to the new post on deputation basis and also to relieve them from their current posts. Similar to the Vigilance Cell in Coimbatore, another one has been formed in Cuddalore. Two such Cells are functioning in Chennai and Madurai.
