Vehicle safaris at STR to ply every day

The Forest Department has decided to operate vehicle safaris at Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) on all days in the current month.

Under the “Vanaporni Nature Education Programme”, the department’s vehicle will take the tourists for 20 km. inside the forest area in two trips, 7 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. in a day.

The routes include Dhimbam - Kottadai Pirivu and Dhimbam – Tipu Sultan Watchtower for which tourists have to report at Dhimbam forest check post. Other routes include Karachikorai – Thengumarahada (reporting at Karachikorai forest check post), Hassanur – Huligerepatti (Hassanur forest office), Germalam – Shooting Lodge Road (Germalam forest office) and Chikkally – Jeerahally (Talavadi forest office, Jeerahally).

Officials said that traditional foods will be served for breakfast while snacks with beverages will be served in the evening trip. Tourists can log on to https://str-tn.org and book their tickets and they can also contact the number 97506-59436 for registration.
