Health Department on Tuesday held second special vaccination camp for pilgrims preparing for the Haj and Umrah pilgrimages. Officials said that 254 pilgrims were vaccinated at the camp. Deputy Director of Health Services P.G. Bhanumathi said that the pilgrims were given oral polio vaccine and meningococcal vaccine, the two health requirements for the pilgrims.

“This is the second special camp organised by the Department for pilgrims this year. Those who were administered with the two vaccines were given certifications by the Department which is required to perform the pilgrimage,” said Dr. Bhanumathi. The first camp was organised by the Department on July 2 in which 252 pilgrims were given the vaccines. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind on Tuesday organised a guidance camp for the pilgrims at Karumbukkadai.
