The Anti-Land Grab Cell of Coimbatore City Police arrested two persons on Thursday for allegedly cheating a person by selling a land at Vilankuruchi in Coimbatore by forging documents.

Inquiry revealed that the land measuring 10.3 cents was already sold by the father of the accused to the Tamil Nadu Housing Board in 1998.

The police said that the accused, R. Ramesh (45) and his brother R. Iyyasamy alias Ravi (51) of Gandhipuram, knew that their father T.K. Ramasamy sold the land to the housing board.

They forged the documents for the land and sold it to P. Ramasamy of Melapuram in Perambalur district for Rs. One crore.

A case was registered by the Anti-Land Grab Cell in October 2014 on a complaint lodged by P. Ramasamy.

The police registered a case against Ramesh and Iyyasamy.

On the directions of City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan, the brothers were produced in court. They are lodged in prison.
