The two-day Samskrita Mahasammelanam of Dakshina Tamil Nadu, organised by Samskrita Bharati concluded here on Sunday. Over 4,000 people visited the Sammelanam venue and more than 400 delegates from 21 districts participated in the meet. The session was chaired by Dinesh Kamath, the All India Organising Secretary of Samskrita Bharati.

According to a press release, it was decided at the meeting to conduct a four-day training camp on spoken Sanskrit at six regional centres - Coimbatore, Kumbakonam, Trichy, Karaikudi , Madurai and Kanyakumari - from December 24 to 27. Special three-day orientation class will also be held at the six regional centres to train teachers of those schools that agree to introduce the Bala Bharati course on basic Samskritam learning for school children. It was also decided to request the State Government to restore Sanskrit as an optional subject of study in all the Government schools and aided schools.
