Traffic diversions for Vinayaka idols processions, immersion

In view of the Vinayaka idols processions scheduled on Wednesday, the city police announced traffic diversions in various parts of the city.

Trucks will not be allowed into the city between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.

From 1 p.m., vehicles towards Ukkadam via Palakkad Road must take the left at Kovaipudur Junction, reach the Ashram School Junction via Kulathupalayam and take the right at the school junction to reach Ukkadam via Puttu Vikki road.

Similarly, vehicles going to Pollachi from Ukkadam must reach Pollachi Road from Kurichi Pirivu via Podanur Bazaar Street, Railway Kalyana Mandapam, Podanur New Bridge, G.D. Tank and Chettipalayam Road.

All vehicles towards Kuniyamuthur and Palakkad from Ukkadam must take Perur Bypass Road and reach the Ashram School in Kovaipudur. From there, vehicles may reach Kulathupalayam and reach their respective destinations.

Buses and other vehicles taking the route via Sundarapuram from Pollachi Road to reach Palakkad Road must first reach Madukkarai Market Road via L&T Bypass road. From Market Road, vehicles may take the left turn at Pillaiyarpuram Junction to reach Sugunapuram and Palakkad Road.

Similarly, light motor vehicles taking the route via Sundarapuram from Pollachi Road to reach Ukkadam must take the right from Eachanari Junction to reach Chettipalayam Road; from there, vehicles may take the left to arrive at Kurichi Junction and take the route via Aathupalam to reach Ukkadam.

All the trucks and heavy vehicles from Pollachi are barred from entering the city and must ply only on L&T Bypass Road, according to a a press release from police.

The idol procession at 1 p.m. will begin from Dharmaraja Temple in Kuniamuthur and will reach the Kuniamuthur Tank via Palakkad Road in Kuniamuthur.

The second procession will begin at 2 p.m. on Sarada Mill Road in Podanur, proceed towards Pollachi Road via Sundarapuram and will reach Kurichi tank for immersion of idols. The public are requested not to park their vehicles on the roads during the processions, the release adds.

Outfits such as Hindu Makkal Katchi, Hindu Munnani, Bharat Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad would be organising the processions, police said in the press release.
