The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) introduced three new mofussil buses to Tiruchi and Salem from Coimbatore recently.

TNSTC officials said on Monday that the deluxe, air-conditioned buses had 54 seats in a three + two in a row arrangement.

Other features included air-suspension, charger pins, reading lamps and an emergency bell per seat. Inaugurated on October 25, two days before Deepavali, there are currently two AC buses plying to Salem and one to Tiruchi, the officials said.

The bus to Tiruchi will leave from Singanallur Bus Terminus at 7.15 a.m, 2.45 p.m and 9.15 p.m. The stoppages will be at Kangayam and Karur. The buses to Coimbatore will start from Tiruchi at 5.55 a.m., 1.40 p.m. and 9.15 p.m.

The buses to Salem will leave from Gandhipuram Central Bus Terminus at 6.36 a.m, 7.40 a.m, 4.02 p.m and 5.33 p.m.

The buses will leave from Salem to Coinbatore at 11.50 a.m., 12.15 p.m., 9.36 p.m. and 11.40 p.m., an official release said.

The cost of ticket to Salem is ₹190 and ₹ 225 for Tiruchi, the release said.

Officials said that there would be a total of six buses operated to Tiruchi and Salem, with three more buses being made available by the end of this month.

Out of the 10 buses earmarked for TNSTC Coimbatore Division, two would be for Tiruppur and two for Erode.
