Three of a family killed in accident

Three members of a family were killed in an accident near Attur on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Chandra (40), her daughter Nithya (18) and son Sakthivel (16).

According to police, the three were riding triples on a two-wheeler near Veerakanur when the vehicle collided with a private bus heading to Tiruchi from Gengavelli. All three died on the spot.

Gengavelli police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. The driver of the bus surrendered at the station.

Namakkal

In Namakkal, two died when a truck rammed a parked truck on Salem-Coimbatore Bypass Road. According to police, the truck was moving towards Tiruppur from Salem when it hit the stationary truck near Kumarapalayam. Driver Nandhakumar (20) and his friend Gokulkrishnan (18) died and Kumar, who was travelling with them, suffered grievous injuries. He was rushed to a government hospital nearby.

Kumarapalayam police have registered a case and are investigating.
