Three injured in elephant attack

Three persons were injured in The Nilgiris district on Tuesday in an elephant attack.

According to sources, a lone elephant ventured into a human habitation at Adivasi Colony in Padanthurai near Gudalur and damaged a house, injuring Belli (40), his wife Oomanavai (32) and their son murugan (3). They were treated at the Government Hospital at Gudalur. Forest Department is looking into the incident.

Further, following reports of sloth bear sightings, Forest Department has increased patrols at Kanneri near Ooty.
