Shaking their palms, with both hands thrown up in the air, the students of Infant Jesus Convent Society for Education and Training Hearing Impaired appreciated their friends as they participated in various fun games conducted on Children's Day.

One interesting game was to aim balls at the rows of water-filled cups placed before them.

Challenge

The programme was conducted by Deaf Empowerment Activities for Literacy Education Accessible Development Empowerment Rehabilitation and Sports (Deaf Leaders) and Lions Club of Coimbatore Elite.

Seventy-four students of the school took part in the programme.

It was followed by a drawing competition. “I drew a dove at the competition,” said B. Maharaja, a X standard student.

Skill training

“We conduct this programme every year. Through this, we wanted to give the message that special children could achieve success through education and skill training, said K. Murali, director of Deaf Leaders.

It was followed by a film festival that saw the screening of movies of Charlie Chaplin, Brahmarishi Vishwamitra, True or False and three other children's movies.

Dialogues

Twenty-five saplings were planted as part of the programme.
