The Hindu in School Chess contest on January 12

The Hindu In School Chess competition will be held at the Hindustan College of Arts and Science, Nava India, on January 12 from 9.30 a.m.

The contest will be in four age categories - under 9, under 11, under 13, and under 15 (for boys as well as girls). Students can visit http://www.thehindu.com/thischess/ and register online to avoid last-minute rush. Registration fee is ₹150. Spot registration will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The tournament will be on Swiss League basis under the latest FIDE Rapid Rules. Students who have registered online should bring a print out of the confirmatory email received from The Hindu along with their school identity card. Both these documents are mandatory and must be shown at the registration desk. Players must bring their own chess sets and clocks. Only Coimbatore district players are eligible to participate. Distribution of prizes will be held at the same venue at 5.30 PM.

The event is being organised in association with the Coimbatore Chess Association, affiliated to All India Chess Federation.

Thyrocare is the national sponsor of the competition.
