A total of 427 sensitive booths in the district are being monitored real-time using surveillance cameras for the urban local body election on Saturday.  Election officials are monitoring the real-time visuals from the sensitive booths at the control room at the Coimbatore collectorate.  An official in-charge of the monitoring said that all the sensitive booths are equipped with uninterrupted internet connection for live streaming.  Of the 427 sensitive polling stations in the district, 169 are in the limits of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, 100 within the limits of municipalities and 158 in town panchayats, said the official.  The official added that the real-time monitoring would help in detecting anomalies, if any, that happen in sensitive booths.  According to election officials and the police, no untoward incidents or election-related offences were reported in polling stations.
