Students receive copies of The Hindu in School

Over 15,000 students studying in various government schools at Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts received copies of the Children’s Day special edition of The Hindu In School as part of The Hindu Group’s Read and Rise initiative on Thursday.

The Hillside Prep School and Kongunadu Arts and Science College in Coimbatore along with Rotary Tiruppur Elite and Rotary Tiruppur Prime in Tiruppur supported the initiative in the respective districts.

Focus

The special issue was focused on visual learning and on the life and times of Jawaharlal Nehru, a release said.

The copies were distributed during the functions organised at the Government High School, Idigarai; V.C.V. Government Higher Secondary School, Vellakinar and the Government Higher Secondary School, Veerapandi, Tiruppur.

‘Set goals’

V. Chinnusamy, CEO, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, who spoke at the event in Idigarai stressed the need for having goals at a young age and urged the students to make use of the latest technological advancements.

Nithya Gokul, Executive Director of The Hillside Prep School distributed the copies to the students at Vellakinar and encouraged them to adopt a “pragmatic learning approach” and equip themselves for life beyond school.

In Tiruppur, N. Vasudevan, president, Rotary Tirupur Elite and Mukesh Kotari, president, Rotary Tirupur Prime announced in Veerapandi that they would bear the cost for higher studies of deserving students from government schools as part of their Rotary initiative.

V. Manikandan, Assistant Governor, Rotary District 3202 and J. Venkatesh, Rotary Regional Coordinator, participated in the event, the release added.
