Poultry farm owners would directly be allowed to participate in the tender process for supplying eggs to noon meal centres in the State if the DMK comes to power in the State, DMK treasurer M. K Stalin said in Namakkal on Tuesday.

He was in the district as part of his ‘Namakku Naame’ campaign. He interacted with poultry owners and members of various poultry associations.

The poultry farm owners said that they could not participate in the tender process due to stringent norms that favoured a particular company. Eggs are supplied at high rate to the government than the prevailing market rate, they said and sought a separate welfare board for poultry farmers.

Replying to their demands, Mr. Stalin said that not only the poultry industry, but all other industries in the State were suffering due to the policies of the government. He assured that poultry farmers could get benefit by supplying eggs to the noon meal centres directly.

He also interacted with workers in a poultry farm and enquired about their working conditions and wages.

Later, he held a meeting with lorry owners who wanted minimum educational qualification for getting driving license for heavy vehicles to be relaxed from the present norm of Class 8. Addressing them, Mr. Stalin said that the situation in the State is that people even cannot meet the ministers or the Chief Minister to air their grievances.

In the afternoon, he interacted with college students in Paramathi . He also met handloom workers and weavers in Pallipalayam who complained on the prevailing power disruptions. He spoke with borewell, lorry and bus owners in Tiruchengode in the evening.
