Sringeri pontiffs arrive in city

The junior pontiff of the Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Mutt, Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, being welcomed by devotees in the city on Monday.

The pontiffs of the Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Mutt arrived in the city to a rousing reception on Monday.

The senior pontiff Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and junior pontiff Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam will stay on the mutt premises near Sharadambal Temple in Race Course till May 2.

The pontiffs are on a tour of Tamil Nadu- Vijaya Yatra.

In Coimbatore, they will preside over the Shankara Jayanti celebrations from April 27 to 30.

There will be Shankara Jayanti pooja, Veda parayanam, Prasthana Traya Bhasyas and Shankara Digvijaya from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

On April 30, they will perform the Sri Shankara Jayanti Pooja at noon. And, in the evening, there will be a grand Shankara Jayanti procession around Race Course.

Their daily programme also includes public darshan, pada pooja and bhiksha vandanam from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.

The evening programmes include nama sankeerthanam and discourses by teachers.

The pontiffs will depart for Tirupur by 4 p.m. on May 2. For details, devotees can reach the mutt on 0422-2220760.
