Around 50 North Indian workers of a factory located at Kariampalayam near Pogalur here alleged that they have not been paid their salaries. In a petition submitted to the district administration during the public grievances redress meeting held at the Coimbatore Collectorate on Monday, Jegan Rai of Bihar said that the company stopped production on March without giving them any notice.
The company personnel harassed them when they sought salaries, he said. He said that they were working in the firm from October 2014.
The workers asked the District Collector to help them get their wages, and take action against the firm.
False complaints
A group of residents of Ammankulam Road, near Pappanaickenpalayam, has urged the district administration to take action against a person who was filing ‘false complaints’ against a temple in the locality. The petition said that the person was removed from the temple trust on the charge of financial irregularities.
He had submitted complaints that the temple was located in public land ,and was obstructing a road.
He had asked the administration to demolish it.
Caste names
Samuganeethikana Ilaigner Sangam (Tamil Nadu) has urged the district administration to remove the name boards of shops, marriage halls, and commercial establishments that contained caste names.
The petition said that giving caste names was a violation of a Government Order on October 3, 1978.
Bridge
The DYFI has urged the district administration to expedite the construction of a foot bridge near Irugur Railway Station. The petition said that students were forced to cross railway tracks to reach the Government High School at Irugur.
