Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hema Karunagaran on Monday gave away the City Police Commissioner's Road Safety Rolling Trophies to Suguna RIPS Matriculation School and for the college to Nirmala College for Women.
Coimbatore City Traffic Police Wardens Organisation on Monday organised Friendly Five Road Safety Contests marking the 100 per cent coverage in schools. Traffic Wardens Organisation has so far established Road Safety Patrol in 105 schools and 11 colleges, said A. Mahesh, Chief Traffic Warden.
Mr. Mahesh added that the remaining 80 per cent of the colleges will be covered in the coming years.
RSP students numbering 8,947 from schools and 908 from colleges took part.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Sundaravadivel and Assistant Commissioner of Police Traffic - Anbalagan took part in the event.
The special prizes given away included: Best RSP teachers - Manjula of Jayendra Saraswathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Mercy Anandaraj of Nirmala College for Women. Special prizes given included; best RSP students – Priyadarshini of Avila Convent Matriculation School and Preethi of Nirmala College for Women. The event was inaugurated by Nitin K. Asthana Manager, Industry Affairs, ITC. Large number of students took part in the Friendly Five Road Safety Contests conducted on five themes.
