As part of the ongoing effort to turn Avanashi Road into a model road, the City Traffic Police are installing sticks with reflectors at road intersections and signals to alert motorists.The sticks with red and white reflectors will also be installed around the traffic constable’s umbrella.
The initiative is being carried out by a team led by ACPs S. Ramakrishnan (East), Raj Kanna (West), and Inspectors C. Ayyarasamy and Saravananunder, on the orders of the City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pravesh Kumar.
In the first phase, 100 sticks have been procured for the Coimbatore City, and of which 60 have been given to the Traffic East sub-division and 40 to Coimbatore West sub-division. Depending on the effectiveness of this initiative, City Police are planning to go in for more such sticks on major arterial roads in Coimbatore.
