Probe on into death of girl child

Anamalai police are probing into a complaint by a man about suspicious death of his girl child.

According to police, Veeramuthu is working with the Postal Department in Negamam, and his wife Krithika (25) is working in a private mill. The couple has a three-and-a-half year old child.

It is learnt that the couple is living separately.

The father was informed that the girl developed ill-health and was rushed to Vettaikaranpudur hospital on October 12 and that she died there. The police are preparing to question the mother and also to exhume the body of the child for post-mortem.

Arrested

City police arrested two women Renukadevi (38) and Rajeswari (40), who were found roaming around in suspicious circumstances. Inquiries revealed that the two had stolen a five-sovereign gold jewellery from a school teacher Kumari Vanaja of Sirumugai.

Police said that the women committed the crime making use of the festival shopping rush in Town Hall area. Ukkadam police were probing into the theft. Inquiries revealed that the women were also involved in stealing Rs. 50,000 from Mary of Sundarapuram.
