Potters seek permission to extract clay from poramboke lands

Potters hailing from Meenakshi Nagar near Kavundampalayam on Monday petitioned District Collector at the grievances redress meeting seeking permission to extract clay from poramboke lands in Kanuvai and Madathur. The petition said that their livelihood was hit due to unavailability of clay in the region. Though they managed to find clay in Kanuvai and Madathur, authorities concerned refused to give them permission to extract it, the petition said. They have sought the Collector’s permission to extract clay.

Residents of Chennimalai Andavar Nagar on Siruvani Road submitted a petition to the District Collector seeking steps to prevent opening of a Tasamc outlet in their locality. According to the petitioners, the outlet was coming up in a place very close to residential areas such as Rams Nagar, Radhika Avenue, Chinnasamy Nagar, Veerasami Colony, Nesavalar Colony, Devi Nagar, Mariamman Kovil Street and Thiagi Kumaran Street. They feared for the safety of women and children, if the shop was opened in the area.

Relocate bus stops

Viduthalai Siruthaikal Katchi has petitioned District Collector seeking his intervention to relocate the bus stops located near the traffic signal at Ramanathapuram junction. The petition said that the junction was witnessing traffic snarls due to the presence of bus stops.
