A total of 186 vehicles fitted with GPS were used to dispatch poll materials here on Tuesday.

A total of 9,238 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Control Units and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines are to be used for the during the polling to be held on April 18. The movement of all the vehicles will be monitored from the control room functioning at the Collectorate.

Of the total 2,213 polling stations in the district, 222 polling stations were identified as vulnerable.

On Wednesday, all zonal teams for each Assembly segments will transport EVMs, polling materials to the polling centres, from where the check list of materials by the Election Commission will be handed over to the polling staff. The preparedness of the polling staff in all polling locations will be certified by Wednesday evening to the District Election Officer, which in turn will be transmitted to the EC, said the District Election Officer and Collector S. Prabhakar here on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Prabhakar said

that for Thally, Denkanikottai and Anchetty areas, nine district officials have been posted to organise the transportation and movement of polling materials. In view of the remote terrain, and the movement of elephants, a team of police and forest officials will guide the transport of the EVMs at the conclusion of polling on Thursday evening.

Further, due to non-granting of two additional polling booths for two remote locations, the district administration has organised a vehicle to carry voters from two remote villages in Thally.

Mock poll will be held at 6 a.m. for Parliamentary elections, but for Hosur constituency that will witness both by election along with the Parliamentary election, mock polls will commence 90 minutes before the poll time.
