Political parties should supplement the role of officials in enrolling eligible people as voters, said A.C. Mohandass, observer for the process of electoral rolls revision in Coimbatore, at a meeting held in Coimbatore on Monday.

Suggestion

A release said that he had suggested that just as political parties nominated agents during elections, they should do so now for every booth to include as voters the eligible people who had been left out.

He was speaking at the meeting organised at the Collectorate with representatives of political parties and officials to discuss issues related to inclusion, deletion and correction process in the voters' list.

Coimbatore District Collector M. Karunakaran presided over the meeting.

He said that on October 24 the draft electoral rolls were released and copies of the same were shared with political parties and kept at polling booths for public scrutiny.

Corrections

There, people could submit for including names, deleting names or carrying out corrections.

Applications submitted in bulk would not be accepted.

District Revenue Officer K. Karpagam, Sub Collector, Pollachi, Arun Sundar Dayalan, Revenue Divisional Officer, Coimbatore, S. Santhakumar, Deputy Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation, S. Sivarasu, and other officials participated.
