Kumaraguru College of Technology students and volunteers engaged in creating a percolation pond on the campus in Coimbatore.

Around 300 students from Kumaraguru College of Technology and 30 volunteers from non-government organisations and corporate companies joined hands to create a percolation pond on the college campus.

A press release from the institution said the college had organised the activity, Shramdaan, to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The pond would help store 32 litres of rainwater.

The institution had organised it under the Microcosm, a flagship programme aimed at promoting sustainable living and conserving environment. The release also said that the percolation pond would help recharge the groundwater in the college and also its neighbourhood.
