A new post graduate diploma programme in ‘Plant Health Management' was launched in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) on August 29. Dr. K. Satyagopal, Director General, National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM), Hyderabad, inaugurated the event. The programme is jointly offered by TNAU and NIPHM.

Dr. Satyagopal said that the programme aims to make the specialisation available at NIPHM accessible to the students of TNAU. This is the first programme offered by NIPHM jointly with any institute in the country.

The course will help to develop expertise in “Agro-ecosystem based Plant Health Management” which is different from “Economic Threshold Level (ETL) based Plant Health Management” advocated by other institutes. Dr. P. Murugesa Boopathi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, presided.
