Three injured in bear, gaur attacks

R. Gnana Thilagam (38), a resident of Tantea quarters at Kolapalli near Choondi was injured in a bear attack in The Nilgiris district on Tuesday.

Estate workers staged demonstration demanding steps to tackle the increasing man-animal conflict in the region.

In another incident, Laila (40) and her son Babu (20), residents of Kejamudi estate near Valparai, were injured after being attacked by an Indian Gaur at Manampalli Forest Range near Valparai in Coimbatore district.

They were waiting for a bus when the animal attacked them around 6 a.m. People staged a road roko demanding preventive action. - Staff Reporter
