Man killed, as wall falls on him

The 7ft high wall of the drainage was constructed just a few days ago.

A mason who was plastering a storm water drain on the 50-Feet-Road died after the concrete wall fell on him on Monday. The police have identified the deceased as P. Munusamy (44).

He hailed from Perumalnaickenpalayam, near Uthangarai, in Krishnagiri district. He was working under contractor who took up the drainage construction work. The police said that the 7ft high wall of the drainage was constructed just a few days ago.

The other labourers removed the rubble and took him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police have registered a case against contractor Muthuraj under section 304A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, on charges of failing to provide the required safety measurers for labourers.
