Abdul Azeez (37) of Kakkan Colony in Valparai on Thursday blocked the road at Gandhi Statue here with his 9-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter, both study in a government school, protesting against the JACTO-GEO strike. He urged the government to resolve the stir and ensure functioning of schools.

When Abdul Azeez found his children returning home at 10.15 a.m. as there was no school as a fallout of the strike, he was agitated and squatted on the road with them.

He told journalists that the stir by teachers would adversely affect the education of thousands of children of the government schools. He lamented that the elected representatives and the government did nothing concrete so far to resolve the strike.

Valparai police removed him and the children, took them to the police station and advised him to remain patient.
