Man arrested for misbehaving with woman

The Saravanampatty police on Monday arrested the owner of an interior designing company at Ganapathy here on charges of misbehaving with an employee and seeking sexual favours from her.

The police have identified the accused as A. Moses (37), a resident of LGB Nagar near Ganapathy.

The police said that Moses was held based on a complaint filed by a 21-year-old woman from Karur who had joined the company on January, 1 this year.

The woman said that the accused repeatedly sent sexually abusive messages and videos to her WhatsApp.

The complainant alleged that her employer offered her money for sexual favours.

When refused, the man allegedly abused her in filthy language and threatened her.

According to the police, the accused was arrested for offences under Sections 75(1)(c) of Tamil Nadu City Police Act, 354 (D)(1), 506 (1) of the IPC and 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.

He was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody, said the police.

Man gets life term

The First Additional District Judge M. Gunasekaran on Monday awarded life imprisonment to Karthik Raja (24), a resident of Thiru Nagar Colony in Kuniyamuthur, for murdering a blanket seller from Uttar Pradesh in 2018.

He had beaten to death M. Sukeal (29) using a wooden log. Raja was arrested a day after the murder by a team of police led by inspector T.H. Ganesh.

Public Prosecutor V.V. Nagaraj said the court also imposed a fine of ₹1,000.

Investigation into stolen gutkha

The Selvapuram police have started investigation into banned tobacco products stolen from a warehouse sealed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in November last year. FSSAI had sealed the warehouse on Bharathi Road after 830 kg of banned tobacco products were found in a raid on November 19.

Three suffer burns

Three persons were injured in a fire reported in an industrial unit manufacturing turmeric oil at Sinjuvadi near Pollachi on Sunday. The police have identified them as M. Agnesh from Pollachi, Balram and Sanjay from West Bengal. The incident happened while shifting the material from plastic barrels to metal drums.
