The Association of Self Financing Arts, Science and Management Colleges of Tamil Nadu has urged the State Government to hear its views before deciding on an online admission process for arts and science colleges.
In a resolution passed at the 16th annual general body meeting, held here on Saturday, the Association said unlike engineering education where there was one affiliating university offering a handful of courses, the arts and science education had half-a-dozen universities that followed different syllabus for each of the several courses.
A few universities followed the credit system. This would lead to confusion among students about courses and colleges and therefore the government would do well to hear its views before deciding on an admission pattern.
The Association also reminded the government that with the Central Government taking steps to release the New Education Policy, it would be better if it waited for some more time as there would be better clarity before taking a decision.
It thanked Bharathiar University for considering its demand for inclusion of secretaries of affiliated colleges in its Syndicate.
