Flying squad officials here seized 52 liquor bottles from a person near Muthannankulam on Wednesday.
In Tirupur, the squad seized ₹ 3 lakh from a person on Mangalam Road just past the midnight on Wednesday.
The flying squads have thus far seized ₹ 58.39 lakh that people were carrying without sufficient documents. They had also seized 588 liquor bottles and a gun. Officials in-charge of supervising the conduct of election said that the seized money was deposited in the treasury. People from whom the money was seized could furnish documents to reclaim the cash.
The Tirupur district administration officials said they seized the money from Ilamanimaran, a resident of Sivasakthi Nagar, who claimed that he was taking home the money that was collected from his business clients. The officials there had thus far seized ₹ 46.52 lakh.
A release from the Tirupur administration also said that in the eight Assembly segments in the district, it had identified 10 polling booths as critical and 376 as vulnerable. The total polling booths in the district is 2,482.
It also said that the administration had removed 9,265 advertisements and hoardings in public places and 4,273 in private establishments.
Meanwhile, in Coimbatore, more than 40 differently abled persons participated in a vehicle rally aimed at creating awareness among voters.
Officials said they had planned more such voter awareness engagements involving differently abled persons to drive home the message that voting was one’s duty.
Nomination
In Tirupur, an independent candidate filed his nomination on Wednesday. A release from the district administration said M.A. Sarvalogadhayabaran (69) filed his nomination for the Tirupur Lok Sabha seat.
