Flood alert issued in Namakkal

The district administration has issued a flood warning in River Cauvery in the wake of release of water from Mettur Dam for farm operations in the delta districts on Thursday.

In a press release issued here on Wednesday, District Collector M. Asia Mariam said that the people living in the low lying areas in the villages situated on the banks of the river should be very cautious. They should not enter the river, other water bodies, supply channels for taking bath, washing purpose and fishing.

The youths should avoid taking pictures and selfies by posing near the water. The parents should ensure caution and should not allow the children to play near the water. The quantum of release of water from the dam into the river will be informed to the public every now and then.
